Text Box: Whether you’re a DJ geek or have a newfound appreciation or interest in DJ music, Nate Harp (DJ Reddevil) has the energy and ability to take you on a musical journey that entertains, enlightens and simply infuses your musical soul.  In fewer words, his sounds are good and he has something that appeals to all of us.  Your body won’t let you deny the urge to start shaking your head, tapping your fingers on the table or doing whatever it is you do when you hear the beat and feel the vibe while you experience Nate Harp’s musical collaborations.

He has been influenced by a life long involvement in the musical arts that is undeniable, with his wealth of knowledge, skilled precision with sound and plethora of album and artist titles he can name drop at any time.  His first endeavor while headed down the DJ path was in 1988 at the local radio station KRVM88.9fm in his hometown of Eugene.  He was exposed to his early influences of hardcore hip-hop (Public Enemy, BDP) and industrial/punk rock (Skinny Puppy, Ministry, and NoFX).  Eventually Nate Harp was turned onto techno in the 90's (Orbital, Jeff Mills and Black Dog Productions) and went on to work as Program Director of Subterradio88.7fm, Portland's first Pirate radio station.

In Portland he promoted ‘Absolut Jungle’ (1996), the first weekly Drum & Bass club.  During a time when this type of music was virtually unheard of, he quickly became a key player in pioneering the Drum and Bass movement in which he has been heavily involved over the past 8 years.  His entrepreneurial spirit paved the way to opportunities helping promote more recognizable gigs such as Funkungfusion (Ninja Tune) in 1998 and NxNw Music Festival Main stage with Parliament/ Pfunk (VH1 Tour) featuring George Clinton.

Recently, he has been performing his own music that exhibits some of the Brokenbeat/ House music that stemmed from the Detroit Techno scene along with rare groove and UK production techniques.  He can be found in Southern California at Databass, Junglist Federation, Proper, Substance, Frequency and Breakdown while alongside: R.A.W., Klute, Pieter K., John Tejada, Mok and Rusta.  His focus is geared more toward music production, releasing material for Stereosystem Recordings, the first release to appear as ‘Sherpa’ and ‘Starlight’.  You may also catch him as a guest DJ with two radio shows on KUCI88.9fm Irvine, CA, which broadcasts Thursday's 10pm-12am and Friday night 8pm-12am on the net at www.kuci.org

His style has been through many metamorphoses and some may call him a bit of a chameleon, but this only exemplifies his broad exposure to many different musical art forms that is shaping a masterful DJ.  Nate Harp possesses a rare combination of intelligence, artistic drive, dedication and passion that carries over into his unique musical creations.  One can’t argue that this is truly his calling in life and we can expect to hear more of DJ Reddevil.
